When I told you about my pregnancy I did expect a happy smily boy, Instead you panicked and started crying in despair. I didn't understand and tried to calm you down before you could explain what was going on. You finally explained how worried you were with me, and how the doctors would have to cut my belly to make the baby come out. Then I explained how natural births work and showed you a lovely video of a baby horse being born. You said that you were then happy. As the days go by I get more and more emotional about how caring you are being about me and your baby.  You hug me all the time and want to kiss my belly. You shared the news in school with your friends and, as you said, "started to cry happy tears". You are such a sweet boy Luca and you make people around you really happy! As you told me about your sharing in school you made another mum cry... What a beautiful soul you have. I couldn't be prouder!

About being born in a different land...

Luca: "Mum why did they spray graffiti saying 'LEAVE' on the walls of the Polish shop?" Me: "There are some people who were born in England not feeling very happy with people from different countries who live here right now (and explained referendum and different points of view etc)" Luca: Well I think it is not fair on people who live and work here for a long time like us mum. But we better start telling them that we are English, and we better keep Portuguese (the language w e speak) to ourselves so they don't find out. I really like it here, I am here for 4 years now and don't want to leave. I would miss my school and my friends" Truly sad... That is exactly why my family does not speak Italian. When my great grand parents migrated to Brazil scaping the war they would avoid using a different language in public to avoid all the suffering... Horrible times are back again and listening those words coming so naturally out of my 8 year old boy ...
